RICKY LEE'S BOOK LAUNCHING AND SIGNING



Si Tatang At Mga Himala ng Ating Panahon, Ricky Lee’s ground breaking collection of reportage, short fiction and screenplay, reissued as a special collector’s edition had a successful book launch last Sunday, 3 pm, May 31 (2009) at Powerbooks, SM Megamall. It was a star-studded event attended by celebrities, friends, fans, the Noranians, supporters and even ordinary people. They came in droves to witness the memorable affair.

Well-known and popular personalities like Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes, Phillip Salvador, Ogie Alcasid, Alan Paule, Jaclyn Jose, Jean Garcia, Vangie Labalan, Fernando Josef, Robi Domingo, Danton Remoto, Chanda Romero and Ricky Davao (who also stood as host) read excerpts from the writer’s book. National Artist for Literature, Bienvenido Lumbera addressed the opening remarks.

Simon, ano ang nadagdag sa bagong libro? Meron kasi ako nung old issue, eh. Sayang, di ako nakapunta, sana napapirmahan ko rin yung copy ko.

Hindi ako familiar sa unang aklat, James. Ayon sa bagong libro ---"kasama ang screenplay ng Himala, mga artikulo, ilang maikling kuwento, at dalawa pang dagdag na artikulo tungkol sa Himala at kay Lino Brocka." May mga bagong visuals na inilagay.

I attended the event. It was indeed successful. I bought the book and have it signed by my 'idol,' Mr. Ricky Lee. I do hope he'll conduct scriptwriting workshops this year.
